The Little League Baseball World Series is in full swing (pun intended) right now in Williamsport, PA. Teams from all around the globe are competing for the chance to call themselves the 2019 LLBWS Champion. The tournament begins with two super brackets; the teams from the United States and the International teams. The final game is truly a World Series-level game with the United States bracket winner vs. the International winner. Good luck boys!
There is not another sport that says summer like baseball. Whether participating in or watching a game, baseball epitomizes that glorious, hot, sunny season. While playing is the best, surveying the happenings on the field of my favorite team with a hotdog in one hand, a big stack of nachos in my lap, and a beer in the other hand comes in a close second. I know, not the healthiest meal but its baseball. Just one little indulgence for the love of the game, right?
Also, I recently saw an article announcing a historical baseball event that is scheduled for next year in Dyersville, IA. The Yankees and White Sox will be playing a regular season game at the site of the Field of Dreams movie. This movie is one of my favorites. Kevin Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella, lives in Iowa and during the movie attends a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park. As a Red Sox fan who grew up in Iowa, what’s not to like about this movie?
When it comes to the dog days of summer, after all the trips to the pool, the family vacation, and county fairs it is hard not to think about a stop at the ballpark. Especially for those of us who have a favorite team. And depending on the team you follow and root for it may be an anxious time right now as the pennant races continue to take shape. Good luck!
And in celebration of the game, here is a listing of the best of all-time baseball movies. Check to see how this list compares to yours.
“Shoeless” Joe Jackson – “Is this Heaven?”
Ray Kinsella – “No…It’s Iowa.”
Field of Dreams – Universal Pictures, 1989
Enjoy your journey!
